GOLD PHILIA SHIELD BARNACLE WITH BLACK DIAMOND RING

STACKABLE GOLD RING WITH BLACK DIAMOND RING
A porous fragment of shell caught my eye with its smoothed silhouette and its wild array of little holes, three of which now hold 2mm black diamonds. The textural top of the ring sits in contrast to a shiney smooth band. Cast in ancient bronze and covered in 18K gold, the SHEILD Ring is 1.5” long and the band is 7 mm wide.
PHILIA is a Greek word for love — they recognized four varieties of love. PHILIA, or friendship love, which the Greeks valued far more than the steamy wild sexuality of Eros, concerned the deep comradely friendship that developed between those who had fought side by side on the battlefield. It was about showing loyalty to your friends, sacrificing for them, as well as sharing your emotions with them. Another kind of philia embodied the love between parents and their children.
